Of the net assets, EGP 470.10 billion were in local currency and the equivalent of EGP 34.60 billion in foreign currency. The two add up to EGP 504.70 billion, EGP 0.01 billion short of the total, which is consistent with rounding.
Certificates in issue grew faster than assets, by 19.21 per cent to 52.50 billion. Retail investors held 41.90 billion of them, or 79.8 per cent, corporate and legal entities 10.16 billion (19.4 per cent) and founding institutions 441.7 million earmarked certificates (0.8 per cent). The three holdings add up to the 52.50 billion total. The headline of the release rounds the retail share to about 80 per cent.
Average returns in the quarter ranged from 15.24 per cent for private equity funds and 13.03 per cent for index funds to 5.55 per cent for broader equity funds, the release says. Single-sector funds returned 12.23 per cent, precious metals funds 8.23 per cent, Islamic equity funds 8.00 per cent, transferable securities funds 6.76 per cent and thematic funds 5.68 per cent. The release does not say whether these are annualised.
Other regulated savings also hold fund certificates. In its 2025 report on private insurance funds, published on 20 October, the FRA said those funds held EGP 11.49 billion of fixed-income fund certificates at the end of 2025, out of total investments of EGP 210.9 billion.
New fund entities keep arriving. On 5 October the FRA approved the incorporation of two Taj Misr real estate investment fund companies and licensed the Al-Ahli Group Green Agriculture Investment Fund, among the 12 companies and entities it approved that day.
